Sikkim General Info
SIKKIM as a tourist destination has been very satisfying for all kinds of holiday seekers. Though being such a small state yet we have so much to offer. You name it, we have 3rd highest mountain in the world, Mt. Khangchendzonga to a variety of lakes, different types of tradition and culture and unique species of Flora and Fauna.
From a tourist point of view, existence of peaceful environment, panoramic view of lofty mountains, beauty of nature in its natural form and communal harmony itself is the major factor to attract holiday planners. In fact Sikkim has been included in Guinness Book of World Records as the "Most Peaceful State". We have highest number of monasteries in India belonging to different sects and the major one is the Rumtek Dharma Chakra Centre, the seat of the Kagyu Order, which was built in 1960 after the arrival of his Holiness the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa.
